I haven’t shot the Goren’s in a few years and it was amazing too see how much the kids have grown up. They both got gold stars for behavior! Coupled with perfect light on a private estate in Malibu it doesn’t get much better…

I just got back from Palm Springs shooting the engagement and wedding of San Francisco Giants pitcher Dan Runzler to Sports Reporter Michelle Phalen. We started off with a killer engagement session in the desert. Here are just a few pics from that but more to come when I get to them in a week or two. The next day we shot their wedding which was so awesome to watch. I love destination weddings when you have a tight group of old friends and everyone is so involved in the wedding weekend. It was 4 amazing days AND I got to shoot with one of my closest friends the extremely talented Mike Hedden from Evoke Photography who helped me out. Stay tuned…

Lucky me I got to start off the day shooting at one of my all time favorite hotels, the SLS Beverly Hills. Anne had given me a 3 hour time slot in the day to take pics at the SLS. Go Anne! It is a photographer’s playground and we got so many amazing shots since we had the time to shoot. And then much more attuned to their personalities we went over to Luques Restaurant down the street for a small intimiate reception and dinner with close family and friends. Anne is pretty much one of the happiest brides I have ever seen and the look on her face all day long was pure joy.

This was such a fun shoot! John is the executive chef at Cafe Firenze(Fabio from Top Chef’s Restaurant) and his food is out of this world good! A few months ago he had Carrie and I in and served us so much food we could barely walk out of the restaurant! Kim is the head honcho in charge of weddings at one of the top venues in Southern California…Saddlerock Ranch and Vineyard in Malibu.

We started out at Cafe Firenze for a few shots and then headed over to Saddlerock with a few bottles of vino. It is an amazing piece of property that I have had the good fortune to be a part of for many years. I shoot a lot of commercial work for them as well as engagements and weddings. I recently shot their ad for Los Angeles Magazine so look for that this month. I’ll write more on that later this week.

For now enjoy some photos….

I couldn’t even tell you what is going on here but it was hysterical!

In case you are not one of the millions who subscribe to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop newsletter you can read all about what guest contributor Maria Brito had to say about how to buy and hang art from sites like PurePhoto. Maria is one of NYC’s top Interior Designers who specializes in Contemporary Art. You can follow Maria and learn more about her at Maria Brito.com.

Also featured in the newsletter are Gwyneth’s 2 favorite photos that she owns from PurePhoto…

Thomas Birke’s Paris #21

and Jessica Sara Wilson’s Pink Car

From Maria Brito:

“I love creating rooms that are aesthetically compelling, some of them with an edge, some of them a bit more traditional, most of them with color (either a lot or with a good amount of accents) but all of them with some form of contemporary art (roughly anything created between 1947 and today.)

Contemporary art is the art of our times and the art that reflects who we are individually and as a society. It engages the eye and the mind and can open doors and windows to places as remote as Kyoto or as close as Brooklyn. It should not be difficult to live with such an engaging and interesting form of expression, and yet, as an interior designer and a collector myself, I see that not enough people are enjoying the opportunity to live with art.

It’s my mission to demystify the world of contemporary art and interior design and marry them both in a way that is attainable (and irresistible).”
